Who We Are
"Chief Gliding Officers" is how we refer to ourselves. We took our first Segway tour in Savannah, GA,
several years ago. We immediately fell in love with the Segway experience and started taking more tours over the next couple of years. But it wasn't until
we took a tour in Raleigh, NC, in February 2009 that we decided this was an experience
we felt would work well in downtown Lancaster.
Research took a lot of our time, but we became more excited about it as the weeks
and months went by. With experience in the local tourism industry and strong interest in the city of Lancaster, combined with knowledge and interest in technology, we decided that starting a Segway tour business was a natural fit. We love
gliding around on our Segways and we're excited to share this experience with friends, family, local residents and visitors to Lancaster! |

Who Can Ride a Segway
Anyone sixteen and older who can stand and walk unassisted for an hour and a half or more, and can climb at least one step! We've had on our tours young adults, middle age people, boomers, seniors, people
with pins in their ankles, people with knee and hip replacements, and even amputeees
with prosthetic legs!
"How do you balance that thing?" many people ask. Actually, it balances itself! It uses gyroscopic sensors and electric motors to sense and compensate for your
weight shift. Or, if you find that explanation a bit dry, just call it "techno-magic."
Either way, it's fun! :-) |

Who Can Benefit From the Use of Segways
All of us, actually. Segways are battery-powered and burn no fuel. With a full eight-hour charge costing about 25 cents worth of electricity,
a Segway model i2 can go 15 to 24 miles. Compared to the current price of a gallon of gas (around $2.50), assuming 15
to 24 miles per gallon, the Segway's "fuel cost" is about one tenth that of a normal car or truck!
"Get off the Segway and get some exercise by walking or riding a bike!" some
have told us. It's true that riding (or "gliding" on) a Segway doesn't provide
much aerobic exercise. But it's not an exercise alternative. It's a fun and environmentally friendly way to commute, travel, or explore. |
